Summer Programme 2014
Summer in the mountains of the Paznaun valley is particularly beautiful. Mighty waterfalls, the idyllic landscape and fresh mountain air will make you feel like new. Enjoy long walks and breathtaking views while you relax and recharge your batteries.
The best thing about it: You get a Silvretta Card for free even if you stay only for one night. With this card you can use cable cars and public transport in our region for free. On top of that you get free access to indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the lake, museums and the Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße. It also allows you to participate in guided tours and take part in the family programme of the tourism office and much more. In order to meet all youngsters' needs, there are also separate programmes for children between 4 and 10 at the Kids Club and teenagers from 11 to 16 at the Youth Club. News and more information on how to sign up for activities you can get at the reception in Hotel Tirolerhof or at the tourism office in See.
MON: Welcome, Climbing and Silvretta-walk in Galtür
In the morning the tourism office Paznaun – Ischgl introduces the weekly programme to you in Galtür. Sign up straight away for guided walking tours and events.
If you have signed up for it the previous day, you are now invited to have a go on the climbing wall. Of course there are guides and professionals looking after you to make sure nothing can happen. This also makes it suitable for children.
If you want to tackle the mountains right away, take part in the two hours long Silvretta tour, promising the best view and lonely paths. Meeting point is the shop Intersport Wolfart, no booking necessary.
TUE: Versingalpe, through the forest, latern walk
On the Versingalpe you can get a glimpse of the day to day life on an alp. Try home made yoghurt, buttermilk and the valley's very own mountain cheese. Enjoy the view while your children play with goats and rabbits at the petting zoo.
In the neighbouring village Kappl you can join a forester on his tour through the woods. Learn interesting facts about nature in this part of the word and find out what berries and mushrooms are eatable.
In the evening the tourism office organises a romantic latern walk through See. Enjoy the view and majestic mountains after the sun has set.
WED: Three peaks, GPS treasure hunt and horse farm
Start at 7.30am at the main square in Galtür in order to tackle three peaks over 3,000 meters. For this six hours long tour you have to be in good shape and bring appropriate gear. Please book it in advance, up to the previous evening at the tourism office.

THU: Smugglers' paths, goats cheese, rafting
"On smugglers' paths into Switzerland" is a challenging four hours long tour that will take you across the Alp-Trida-Sattel. Enjoy the sight of the Samnaun-, Silvretta-, Verwall- and Ötztaler mountains. In Samnaun, stroll along Europe's highest shopping street and have a look around more than 60 shops to buy jewellery, perfume, cigarettes and spirits at reduced rates. Until 1905, due to its geographical position, the only road to get to Samnaun was on Austrian soil. Thus it was decided for economical reasons that the area should be allowed to offer products cheaper. Typical regional specialities such as the Bündnerfleisch and famous Swiss chocolate are on offer too. Worth a visit is the very popular „Schmuggler Alm“ (smugglers' alp). Drop by for a Marend (afternoon snack).
Visit the Dias alp in Kappl to get an insight on the production of goat cheese. Make sure you try all the different produce afterwards! Meeting point is the Dias alp in Kappl, just above the mountain station at 9.45am. Please book it in advance, up to the previous day at the tourism office.
The tourism office invites all teens (11 to 16 years of age) to explore rivers and canyons in the area. They will need to bring team spirit and a thirst for adventure. What else they need you will find out in the course of booking. Meeting point is at the pavilion in See at 9.30 am. Please book it in advance, up to the previous day at the tourism office.
FRI: Bouldering, mountain cheese and farmers' market
Bouldering is rock climbing without rope and harness, but fear not. Bouldering professionals are going to supervise you while the so-called spotters keep you safe. Galtür also offers an outdoor bouldering area especially for kids in order to guarantee fun for the entire family. Meeting point is the valley station of the Birkhahnbahn in Galtür at 9.30 am. The rest you will find out when booking in advance, up to the previous day at the tourism office.
Our cheese, the Paznauner Almkäse, is a very popular delicacy. It is made from raw valley and alp milk and ages for 6 weeks. Our cows only get the best grass and hay and you will taste the difference. If you are interested to find out how it's made, pay the Senner (cheese maker) on the Dias alp a visit and get a taste of fresh cheese, butter and more. Meeting point is at Dias alp just above the mountain station in Kappl at 9.45 am. Please book it in advance, up to the previous day at the tourism office.
In the evening you shouldn't miss the farmers' market in Kappl, with a concert and lots of delicacies to try and buy. There is a children's programme too, starting at 7.30 pm for two hours. The market starts at 6 pm at the main square in Kappl.
Kids club (4 to 10 years)
For children, an adults' holiday can be pretty boring. Therefore we have come up with a separate programme for children, in order to guarantee a fun holiday for the entire family. From June 23rd to September 5th, Kräuterhexe (witch) Klara, haflinger horses, lantern evenings and more will keep the little ones busy. There is also a number of walking tours especially for families. Have a look at our family deal "Happy family" under offers.
Youth club (11 to 16 years)
If extensive walks and visits to museums are not exactly your teenager's cup of tea, they might be up for joining our Youth Club (from June 23rd to September 5th) instead. Whether fishing and chilling at the lake, adventures on two wheels at the Silvretta Bike Academy in Ischgl, GPS treasure hunt, bouldering, white water rafting or other fun stuff – we take care of it. With cool supervisors and experienced professionals, teenagers will experience a great time they won't forget.
